The Northern Home Counties branch emerged from the amalgamation of all the units within the EN/AL postcode area’s several years ago. Units represented by the Branch are :- Enfield SDO, Barnet SDO, Potters Bar SDO, Waltham Cross SDO, Hoddesdon SDO, Harpenden SDO, St. Albans SDO, Welwyn Garden City SDO, Hatfield SDO and the Northern Home Counties Distribution Centre in Hatfield and now the Middlesex Distribution Centre in Enfield.. Membership totals almost 1500 at present and members work in various business units of the Post Office. We have a full Branch Committee and Officers hold positions that cover issues such as Equal Opportunities, Legal and Medical, Political and Health and Safety. Committee members have a vast wealth of experience within the Post Office and advice on many issues can be sought from either unit reps or Branch Officials. The Branch positions are displayed for Election every year and elections are open to all paid up members of the Branch. Several times a year we try to get publications posted to members address’s and prior to each Annual General Meeting we publish an Annual Report. The creation of this web site is a fairly new venture and was born out of the realisation that communication is essential for a trade union to keep members informed of issues as quickly as possible. We will do our utmost to keep this site both up to date and relevant, although I will take a bit of license to keep the site interesting.
The Branch is fortunate in the fact that we have built up a good reputation within the union and we have a history of supporting colleagues in their fight for fairness. We, as a branch are also affiliated to several charities and Organisations and these will be listed on the related sites and links page.
